Richard Mille RM UP-01 FERRARI is now the world's thinnest 1.75mm mechanical watch

When the Octo Finissimo Ultra debuted earlier this year, it was billed as the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. With a case thickness of just 1.80mm, it's an excellent showcase of craftsmanship. It was definitely a groundbreaking feat at the time, but not for long.

This manual mechanical movement was launched in collaboration with Audemars Piguet Le Locle. Considering that the baseplate and everything on it is only 1.18mm thick, you might think it's fragile and would break at the slightest touch. Nonetheless, a series of tests have shown that the RM UP-01 Ferrari can withstand accelerations in excess of 5,000 Gs.
